CHRISTMAS ON A RESIDENTIAL PARK
Just like every year, you blink and Christmas is right around the corner. We want to ensure you’re feeling as festive as possible and make the most of this wonderful season within your park home. Whether you’re struggling to decorate your home, or are scratching your head thinking of things to do with the grandchildren, we’ve got Christmas covered for you.
Decorating your park home
Quite often the move from a bricks and mortar house to a park home involves a degree of downsizing and optimising your new space. Therefore you may be wondering how to best decorate but still achieve the same wow factor. Although you may have a smaller space, there’s plenty of opportunity to deck the halls! Here are our top tips for decorating your park home, without breaking the bank.
If you’re looking for a bit of Christmas class, then a ‘less is more’ approach will leave your home looking magnificent. Instead of going for a ginormous Christmas tree, consider a medium-sized one that will not only require fewer baubles, but will also make the room look more spacious. 3-4ft artificial and real trees are now readily available in the shops. Another top tip is to stick to one colour scheme and style with your Christmas decorations. If you don’t want your space to look small, then always go light and bright – adding a touch of sparkle with some warm glowing fairy lights. Adding festive lighting throughout your home will help make any space feel Christmassy, no matter how many other decorations you have. It also allows the festivities to follow you into every room, making them a must for all small spaces.
And don’t forget to make the most of doors, windows and any flat surfaces you have around the home. Hanging baubles off doorknobs or window handles, wrapping tinsel around ornaments or simply filling glass vases with baubles and placing them on window sills are quick and easy ways of decorating your home.
Finally, your home wouldn’t be complete without a Christmas wreath. This will add that finishing touch and help to create a bit of atmosphere throughout the residential park. So, don’t let the size of your space limit your creativity, if anything take the opportunity to really get stuck into decorating your home this Christmas.
Activities with the grandkids
For the little ones, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and what’s better than being a part of their special festive memories. Grandparenting around the holidays is arguably one of the most amazing seasons for getting to share their enjoyment. So here are a few of our favourite grandparent activities that we know the grandkids will love.
Baking
If you’re looking for something cosy and fun to do at home, then enjoy a spot of Christmas baking. Dig out your favourite recipes and cook away to your heart’s content. A childhood favourite is gingerbread men, enjoy cutting out all the fun shapes and go crazy on the decorating. Another great activity is Christmas tree cupcakes, a simple cupcake recipe with some fun green icing. Or, if you’re looking for something that smells like Christmas and gives you that warm homely feel, then bake a Christmas cake and enjoy all the seasonal aromas.
Crafts
Another activity that the grandchildren will love is a day of Christmas arts and crafts. Build a wreath made out of pom poms, paint pine cones to look like Christmas trees, or fold up paper and cut out a design to make some festive snowflakes. The possibilities are endless but bound to bring so much joy. Get the grand kids excited during the Christmas countdown.
Days out with the grand children
Take the opportunity to get a day out of the house and take the grandchildren somewhere memorable. Across the country is a great range of light trails to enjoy which are sensory and interactive for the little ones. Or if you’re really looking to make Christmas extra special, then enjoy a visit to see Father Christmas! This will definitely build up their excitement for the big day.
How to get into the festive mood
For some, Christmas isn’t the most amazing time of year, however we don’t want you to feel alone this December. Reach out to friends and family and arrange a meet up for a coffee. Organise your Christmas shopping so you’re not in a last minute panic. Visit a local market or take a walk around your residential park to enjoy some of the lights and atmosphere. Even if it’s a harder time of year, challenge yourself to get stuck into something Christmas related. Enjoy the likes of a carol service or get involved with charities who work extra hard over the Christmas period. Make sure to check in on your neighbours or friends who might be on their own this year and spread the Christmas cheer.
We hope we’ve left you feeling inspired to get into the festive mood with our ideas on how to decorate your park home and ways to spend time with your family. Maximise your space with some décor and get into the spirit. Make the most of this time of year! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from the team here at Tingdene Parks.
